Among the guests who attended the Opening were Marina Lewycka, a British writer of Ukrainian origin, the author of the international bestseller "A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian" (see Links for more information about the book).

The exhibition was opened one day before the EU-Ukraine Summit in Helsinki. It is aimed at strengthening cultural cooperation between the EU and Ukraine as well as introducing Finnish and international public to contemporary Ukrainian art and how it sees and interacts with the outside world.

The exhibition is open until November 27, 2006 in Helsinki's Main Library. Address: Rautatieläisenkatu 8 (jalankulku Kellosilta 9). Open hours: Monday-Thursday 10-20, Friday 10-18, Saturday 10-16

1.6.2006

The exhibition of the famous Ukrainian artist Alexandr F. Pavlov has been successfully launched. The Opening attracted guests from Holland, Ukraine, Belarus, Porvoo, Karkkila and Helsinki. We were glad to see among the guests the representatives of the Ukrainian Embassy in Finland and the Finnish-Ukrainian friendship society. The Opening was also attended by local artists, representatives of the Finnish business community and young artists. Prior to the exhibition several articles about A.F. Pavlov and his paintings were published by main Porvoo newspapers: Borgåbladet and Uusimaa. Nordic Bridge regards the launch of the exhibition as a concrete example of successful bridge-building between Finland and Ukraine, and, hopefully, a step closer towards more intense cooperation between these two countries.
